JetBlack® projects
JetBlack® products are applied in many of our great projects, including the ones carried out at BASF, Gate Terminal, Zeeland Refinery, Shell Moerdijk, Neste Oil and EXMAR Belgium. How does the JetBlack® system provide fire protection? What are the advantages? And why have these companies opted for this particular system? Read all about it in these blogs.
Require a passive fire protection system? JetBlack® is both flexible and durable
For petrochemical and offshore industries in particular, effective fire protection is crucial. Fires within these industries can cause accidents with extremely serious consequences. In addition, fire protection requirements are becoming increasingly stringent and, therefore, companies have to devote much attention to finding a fire protection solution that meets their specific demands.
JetBlack® used as oil drum fire protection at Neste Oil
Drums and tank installations have to be extra fireproof, this is even more true when an oil depot is concerned. Neste Oil, therefore, requested JetBlack® PFP 15-120 applications, a customised multi-layered passive fire protection system. “We have installed a JetBlack system for 7 oil drums, or small tank installations,” JetBlack® owner Paul Roodenburg explains.
"JetBlack® products are reusable, easily removable and custom-made."
"In short, JetBlack® is a removable fire protection system."
"At BASF, we have used JetBlack® products for applications that include emergency shutdown valves and cable trays."
We have tested one of our JetBlack® installations under extreme conditions and it remained intact for 120 minutes, withstanding jet fire temperatures of up to 1268°C.
Questions about JetBlack®?Annual JetBlack® inspections for BASF and Gate Terminal
More and more companies see the advantages of a passive fire protection system such as JetBlack® PFP 15-120. JetBlack® is easy to remove, can be used multiple times and is custom-made. German chemical companies BASF and LNG hub Gate Terminal also see JetBlack® as the best possible fire protection solution and we have installed several JetBlack® applications for them. In order to guarantee the quality of our products, we carry out annual inspections.
Zeeland Refinery tank emergency shutdown valves are protected against jet fires for at least 90 minutes
For obvious reasons, companies producing oil need maximum protection against fires. JetBlack® products provide a good solution, because they are made of high-quality multi-layered material and are tested under the most extreme of conditions. We have already installed JetBlack® systems for many customers, of which Zeeland Refinery is one.
This is how JetBlack® systems protect Shell Moerdijk's cable trays
Leading company Shell Moerdijk, has recently started using JetBlack® for part of its fire protection issues. At Shell Moerdijk, the requirements in this area are becoming increasingly stringent. Among other things, it is important that the Emergency Shutdown Valves continue to be operational during a fire, because it allows for a controlled switching off of the production process. In order to achieve this, we have applied JetBlack® solutions for a number of ESDVs.
JetBlack® system installed on FLNG Tango in Argentina
Recently, we have carried out a great project for EXMAR Belgium. Their barge-based FLNG Tango facility required a passive fire protection solution for some LNG tanks. JetBlack® owner Paul Roodenburg first went to China for a facility survey that included taking measurements. The ship then set sail for Argentina where the actual JetBlack® fitting was carried out.
